Jonkershuis at Grande Provence

The launch of a single vineyard Merlot at Franschhoek’s Grande Provence from the accomplished hands of winemaker Thys Smit was celebrated at Jonkershuis with a slap up lunch by chef Marvin Robyn .  The Merlot was always a key component in the much loved Bordeaux style red blend but now stands alone—and what a cracker it is. Displaying all the characteristics one looks for in Merlot, smooth, intense red flavours, vibrant and elegant, very appealing. It sells for R170 at the cellar and should be cooled to about 16 degrees especially in the fierce SA summers.
