The Cellar at Groote Post

Seasalter is Groote Post’s highly acclaimed flagship Sauvignon Blanc, with a 10% Semillon component and a touch of oak. The Seasalter 2015 and subsequent vintages have been immediate hits with wine lovers. There is no doubt the 2021 vintage will be snapped up by an eager waiting audience.

Seasalter at home in West Coast flowers

Seasalter is made by Groote Post’s talented winemaker Lukas Wentzel. 20% of the Sauvignon is fermented and aged for 4 months in ceramic toasted 300 litre French Oak (80%new) barrels which Lukas says     “adds structure and complexity to the wine while safeguarding the purity, freshness and flavours of the fruit.”  The wine is totally delicious with an undoubted touch of the salt which comes over from the nearby Atlantic Ocean to these famous vineyards in the Darling Hills. Packed with fruit but with an added gravitas from the way it has been handled which  makes it perfect for food— but I prefer it on its own, chilled– in a quiet moment of life. Too good to share with food or anyone but if you really must then go for seafood of course—keep it plain.
