Memorabilia for Africa !

SA’s most famous white woman—and she hasn’t been accused of corruption—Evita Bezuidenhout, has a new theatre venue at The Perron in Darling. Just returned from a 6 week trip to Europe, her alter ego, Pieter-Dirk Uys, says ” She is looking forward to treading the new boards. The old one was bit cramped –she couldn’t swing a cactus in there without getting thorns in her fingers. “

Evita herself said to me “ What does he know –second rate comedian. If only he did something real for a change.” I didn’t want to go down that road so went over and spoke to Frits Van Ryneveld , the General Manager of the Perron. He said “It was about time for us to freshen up and so we took the  gap while they were out of the country. This weekend Evita is back with her midday show “ Tannie Evita praat  Kaktus “ and already the place is packing them in.”

Intimate enough–up close and personal

The great looking new space still retains that air of nostalgia very much a part of the Perron experience and the excellent food still pours out of the kitchen. Pieter-Dirk himself places his superb works “Echo of a Noise” and “ Lockup Lockdown” before his fans –check out the schedule on their website. Not to be missed when in Cape Town.

The “experience”

A strange mix of reality and fantasy
