Steenberg Five Lives Red Blend
Steenberg Vineyards have released a delicious new Bordeaux-style red blend in recognition of the life-long resilience and courage of their pioneering 17th century founder, Catharina Ras.
The wine, called Five Lives Red Blend 2019, embraces the silky elegance of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, a showcase of the farm’s focus on traditional Bordeaux varieties.

Lush and structured
These chapters are narrated individually on a series of five unique back labels which illustrate Catharina’s five lives; how she managed to harness her courage, adapt and be resilient through each new chapter of her adventurous life. The idea is to discover her story by collecting all five chapters.
The wine is a medium-bodied, lush and structured, with a smooth, velvety texture and great length. There are notes of blackcurrant cassis, basil and plum underpinned by an earthy character typical of Steenberg’s distinctive terroir. Merlot (76%) forms the backbone with clean, bright fruit adding subtle freshness, while Cabernet Sauvignon (24%) lends structure. The wine is showing beautifully now and will cellar well for up to 5 years.
