GROOT PHESANTEKRAAL 2023 SYRAH
The juice was fermented in a combination of amphorae, French oak barrels and a concrete egg, giving it remarkable complexity and textural finesse. Wonderful aromas, vibrant and expressive of pineapple and white pear–even a grape or two– with a long and lingering finish–totally delicious and complex –perfect with roast beef and venison. Pop in the fridge for 20 minutes, especially in summer.
Says winemaker Richard Schroeder ” When I think of Syrah I always think of silk, subtle, taut, and elegant.” So right.

This wine impresses with masses of bright fruit supported by time in French oak barrels. Fabulous with all kinds of sea food and roast pork belly with plenty of garlic and mushroom risotto. A brilliant Chenin–you will love it.
