Now that I’ve got your attention….

The setting is magnificent looking down the valley of Helshoogte Pass to Franschhoek, the Lodges are the last word in luxury, the restaurants are superb, the wine is fabulous –OK so I gush—who wouldn’t when faced with a not so little slice of heaven right here on earth.

What a setting!

The estate, which is called Delaire Graff, belongs to international jeweller Laurence Graff.

Clever way to float

Here, among other things, you can buy a diamond or two or admire the original Tretchikoff painting, The Chinese Girl, which Mr Graff bought and returned to its original home, South Africa.

Deborah Bell

There are other beautiful works of art throughout the estate all worth admiring, some by famous artists like William Kentridge, Anton Smit, Kendell Geers and Deborah Bell.

A recent visit here gave us time to buy some superb ice cream and wander around taking in the treasures all around us. A great place to unwind and to remind one that life is very much for living.
