Heaven in a bottle

There is Chardonnay aplenty in SA , some brilliant, some not so. There are many ways of making it, lighty wooded, unwooded, some with enormous gravitas. We drink it all the time as it goes with so many of the dishes we love so much, like sushi, all kinds of fish and chicken, even pork–roasted–perfect.

De Wetshof

The De Wets in the Robertson Valley have been making chardonnays that stop the traffic for years. They make a wide range of this varietal to please many palates but the one I like the best, mainly because of the price point (R107)is the Limestone Hill–perfect in every way.Unwooded, pure, refreshing, with rich texture, packed with fresh summer fruit, magnificent. Even available in an elegant box at Woolworths, a bargain at R219 for 2 litres. Don’t be shy–get some.
