Love in the Baroque Era” is an upcoming classical music concert set in the historic Parshuis at La Motte – an enchanting way to begin Valentine’s week.

Members of the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra will present a programme of instrumental chamber music from the baroque period, centered around leading composers, the people that inspired them, and their passions outside the world of music.

Musicians of the Cape Town Baroque Orchestra, Ingo Müller (baroque oboe), Annien Shaw (baroque violin), Rosamund Roth (viola da gamba) and Erik Dippenaar (harpsichord/director) play on period instruments, authentically conveying the sound-world of the baroque period.

The programme will include:

George Frideric Handel (1685–1759)

Sonata in F major sonata, HWV 363a (c.1711–1717)

Trio sonata in F major, HWV 383

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750)

Sonata in G major, BWV1021

Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel (1690–1749)

Bist du bei Mir, BWV508
