Mundus Vini is a major wine competition held in Dortmund, Germany twice a year. It attracts more than 5000 entries from 40 countries at each competition and is one of the top events in the vinous calendar. Heineken is a major Dutch brewer with interests worldwide, including here in SA where it is the owner of Nederburg, Durbanville Hills and Zonnebloem. It seems fitting that at this year’s Mundus Vini HEINEKEN Beverages has been named Best SA Producer at the prestigious 2026 MUNDUS VINI Summer Tasting in Germany, following an exceptional showing by its wine portfolio, with Nederburg accounting for one grand gold, three gold and three silver medals, while Durbanville Hills added four gold and nine silver medals. Zonnebloem further contributed a silver to the overall performance.
Nederburg Manor House
Nederburg delivered one of the most notable individual results of the competition, with the 2025 Nederburg The Winemasters Noble Late Harvest being named Best of Show South Africa – Noble Sweet and receiving grand gold.
Durbanville Hills
For Durbanville Hills, the results span the cellar’s sparkling, white and red wine portfolio, with gold awarded to its 2022 Methode Cap Classique Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs, 2025 Collectors’ Reserve The Cableway Chardonnay, 2025 Collectors’ Reserve The Cape Mist Sauvignon Blanc, and 2026 Chenin Blanc.
