Fabulous with food–even better on its own

De Grendel actually  make 3 Shiraz wines , the other two being , if I dare say it, more serious, and therefore, unavoidably, more expensive.  As I always say–time and wood add to a wine’s price. The other two are brilliant and deserve the accolades poured on them, but this one I had with some guests last week was a knockout–superb. A gorgeous colour, deep purple, the aromas come at you from all sides, fragrant , vibrant, packed with red summer fruit with a hint of pepper on the nose, and gloriously smooth on the palate. Serve coolish, especially in these awful hot days we have been having– a red wine’s enemy.

A bargain at R225 at the cellar.
